South Shields man cleared of causing A75 accident death

A motorist has been cleared of causing the death of a man on the A75 near Castle Douglas.

However, Mark Potts, 31, of South Shields, was found guilty of careless driving after a five-day trial.

Sean Kirby, 42, also from South Shields, died in the accident on 13 September 2009.

Potts, who had denied causing his death, was fined £400 and banned from driving for 12 months at Kirkcudbright Sheriff Court.
