Dumfries and Galloway schools shut by snow

A number of schools have been closed in Dumfries and Galloway as snows swept across the south west of Scotland.

Seven sites had been shut by 11:300 - all of them in the western part of the region.

Pupils at Creetown Primary, St Ninians RC Primary, Douglas Ewart High, Kirkcowan Primary, Minnigaff Primary, Penninghame Primary and Wigtown Primary were sent home.

All the schools were scheduled to reopen on Monday.
