Man jailed for trying to visit ex-partner in Kelso

A man who broke a court order and entered a Borders town to contact his ex-partner in the build-up to Christmas has been jailed for 80 days.

Kinlay Harper pled guilty to breaching his bail by travelling from his home at Ardrishaig in Argyll to visit Veronica Kingston in Kelso.

Harper appeared from custody at a special Christmas Eve sitting at Selkirk Sheriff Court.

The court was told that the latest offence happened on Friday.

Sheriff Kevin Drummond said courts made every effort to keep people out of custody, but that when bail conditions were blatantly ignored he was left with very little choice.

Harper also admitted a breach of the peace in relation to threatening and abusive behaviour towards his ex-partner and was fined £350.
