Westruther New Year's Day crash victim identified

Police in the Borders have confirmed the identity of an 18-year-old who died in a road crash near Westruther on New Year's Day.

Scott Johnston of Earlston was a passenger in a blue Mitsubishi Evo which struck a tree.

The teenage driver is in a critical but stable condition in hospital.

The 17-year-old motorist was taken to Edinburgh's Western General Hospital suffering from serious head injuries after the accident.
