Thornhill fire station upgrade cost reduced

Work to refurbish a fire station in southern Scotland is poised to get under way after projected costs were reduced by more than 40%.

The plans for the site at Thornhill in Dumfries and Galloway were originally priced at £560,000.

However, that has now been brought down to £300,000 with the savings to be spent on developing new training facilities in Dumfries.

The revised plans are now set to go before Dumfries and Galloway Council.
