Scottish Power makes Galloway village power cut pledge

Scottish Power says steps are being taken to address power cut problems in a number of Galloway villages.

Dumfries and Galloway MP Russell Brown said people in Portpatrick, Kirkcolm, Lochans and Garlieston were "sick to the back teeth" of losing electricity.

He is now set to meet with the energy company to discuss ways to improve the situation in the area.

Scottish Power said the issue had been mostly weather related but Mr Brown has voiced doubts over that claim.

The Labour MP claimed the cuts had been happening "persistently for months" and that he hoped to "get a resolution once and for all".

He is to meet Scottish Power to discuss the situation.

A spokesperson for the power company said: "We are aware of disruption to supplies in the area, these have been mostly weather related.

"We have arranged to meet with Russell Brown MP next week to discuss the performance of the network and the steps we are taking to improve the security of supplies in this area."
