Dumfries care home nurse struck off

A Dumfries care home nurse who saw an elderly woman fall and break her hip but failed to report the accident has been struck off for misconduct.

Andrew Fletcher was on duty at Goldielea in 2009 when the 90-year-old fell. He did not notify anyone and her injury went undiagnosed for two days.

She was subsequently taken to hospital, where she died four days later.

A Nursing and Midwifery Council fitness to practice panel upheld misconduct charges against Mr Fletcher.

It has ordered that his name be struck from the nursing register.
