Dawyck Botanic Gardens plan hydro electric scheme

Plans have been unveiled to create a hydro electricity system for a major attraction in the Borders.

Thousands of visitors arrive at Dawyck Botanic Gardens every year.

Now its management want to power the visitor centre, gallery and lecture rooms in Peeblesshire from renewable energy.

Detailed plans for a hydro system to harness power from the nearby Scrape Burn have been submitted to Scottish Borders Council.

The local authority's planning committee will consider the plans over the coming months.
