Driver escapes after St Mary's loch plunge

A van driver has emerged unhurt after his vehicle ended up in a south of Scotland loch.

The incident happened at about 06:45 in icy conditions on the road near St Mary's Loch in the Scottish Borders.

The parcel delivery vehicle skidded and ended up in the water but the driver was able to get out without injury.

The van was later pulled from the waters of the loch which lies midway between Selkirk in the Borders and Moffat in Dumfries and Galloway.
