Lochmaben drug find pair jailed

Two men have been jailed after police found a jar containing drugs hidden under the roots of a tree near a south of Scotland town.

A court heard how an operation tracked the men parking regularly beside a wooded area near Lochmaben.

Gary Carrie, 40, and Samuel Rodriguez, 29, both of Halleaths, near Lockerbie, admitted being concerned in the supply of cocaine last year.

They were both jailed for two years at Dumfries Sheriff Court.

The sentences are to run from the end of a five-month period in which they were returned to prison under licence.

The court heard how the police operation to watch the two men was set up after a tip-off.

It resulted in cocaine with a potential street value of nearly £5,000 being discovered in a nearby house.
