Dalbeattie High Street knife assault man jailed

A 38-year-old man who carried out a knife attack in Dalbeattie High Street has been jailed for three years.

Andrew McCormick, of Dovecroft, Kirkcudbright, was convicted by a jury of carrying out the assault in October last year.

Kirkcudbright Sheriff court heard the victim, David Thomson, from Castle Douglas, needed 12 stitches.

McCormick, who had denied the offence, was found guilty by majority. His jail term was backdated to 17 October.
