Stranraer man denies Batley driver death crash charge

A Stranraer man has denied causing the death of a driver from West Yorkshire on the A75 in Dumfries and Galloway.

Brian Shingleston, 58, of Craiglea Avenue, faces trial at Kirkcudbright Sheriff Court later this month.

He denies causing the death of Mark Hoare, 22, from Batley, by driving without due care and attention.

The charge alleges that while taking a left hand bend near Springholm his car crossed the centre line of the road and collided with Mr Hoare's vehicle.

A trial date has been set for 20 February.
