Douglas Ewart High School upgrade officially unveiled

The results of a £4m refurbishment to a secondary school in south west Scotland are being officially unveiled.

The project at Douglas Ewart High in Newton Stewart has seen the creation of a new "hub" or "link" building.

New dining facilities have also been developed as part of the overall improvement programme.

Sandra McDowall, who chairs Dumfries and Galloway Council's education committee, said the modernisation work had made a huge difference.

She said it helped to "bring the school together" and allowed facilities which had previously been outside the campus to be brought on site.
