West Linton car drugs find arrest made

A man has been arrested after police recovered drugs with an estimated street value of £200,000 in a car in the Scottish Borders.

The discovery was made after officers stopped a Vauxhall Astra in West Linton on Thursday.

They searched the vehicle and found more than 100kg of cannabis and 5kg of methedrone.

Police said a 26-year-old man had been charged and was scheduled to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court.

A spokesman for the Lothian and Borders force said: "This is one of the largest drug recoveries in the force's history and was made possible thanks to intelligence received from the public.

"Intelligence is essential in combating crime and ensuring that drugs meant for our communities are seized by police."
