Eliska Novotna denies Peebles farm murder charge

A woman accused of stabbing a 39-year-old man to death on a farm in the Borders is to stand trial in May.

At a brief hearing at the High Court in Edinburgh, lawyers for Eliska Novotna, 22, said she claimed she had acted in self-defence.

Ms Novotna, who remains in custody on remand, denied murdering Arunas Ramanauskas in October at the Old Farm House, Easter Happrew, Peebles.

Judge Lord Bannatyne fixed a trial date for 8 May at the High Court in Dundee.

Ms Novotna also denies a charge of trying to hamper investigations by refusing to be medically examined at Borders General Hospital.
