Dumfries airborne car crash driver banned

A drink driver whose car became airborne and struck and seriously injured a man has been banned from driving for 20 months.

Adam Little, 22, of Marchfield Road, Dumfries, admitted driving at nearly three times the permitted alcohol limit on the A701 Dumfries to Moffat road.

The injured man suffered a severe head wound and suspected brain injury.

Little, who also admitted careless driving, was ordered to carry out 160 hours community service.

Dumfries Sheriff Court heard how Little's car was seen swerving across the road in September last year.

It then overturned and became airborne before smashing into a car in a yard at West Lanegate Farm near Amisfield.

A man who was standing next to the vehicle ended up badly hurt.

The court was told he was awaiting a hospital appointment in Edinburgh and the full long-term effects of his injuries were not yet known.
