Pair face rural Borders theft charges

Two men have been arrested and charged after vehicles, tools and diesel worth more than £100,000 were stolen from rural sites in the Borders.

Properties in Lauder, Innerleithen, West Linton, Selkirk, Peebles and Biggar were targeted between December 2010 and November 2011.

The arrests follow a police operation targeting rural thefts in the region.

A spokesman said the men, aged 34 and 40, were scheduled to appear in court at a later date.

He added that officers were "following a positive line of inquiry to identify another individual believed to be involved".
