Lauder timber lorry blaze closes route

A timber lorry blaze forced the closure of one of the main routes through the Scottish Borders.

The vehicle's load caught fire at 09:45 on Monday on the A68, near Lauder.

The trailer was detached from the cab and firefighters managed to extinguish the flames.

Nobody was hurt but traffic was diverted onto the A697 at Carfraemill and Earlston. The road was shut completely for about an hour before being reopened southbound.
