A76 crash trio avoid serious injury

Three people have escaped serious injury after a two-vehicle crash which shut the A76 in Dumfries and Galloway.

The road was closed at about 13:00 on Monday following the incident, near Closeburn.

The accident involved a Ford Transit van and a blue Mercedes Benz SLK.

Police said the drivers of both vehicles and a passenger in the car had been treated at Dumfries Infirmary, but that none of them had been badly injured in the crash.

The 47-year-old van driver, who was from outside the region, suffered bruising to his chest.

The 40-year-old car driver, who was from the area, sustained cuts, while his 64-year-old female passenger also had "slight injuries".

Dumfries and Galloway Constabulary wants to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time of the accident.
