A groundsman has been knocked unconscious by a van in a hit and run crash outside a secondary school.

The 24-year-old was working at Lockerbie Academy at about 11:00 on Monday when the incident took place.

The victim, who was wearing ear protection and fluorescent clothing, was struck by a white box-type van which failed to stop.
