A Dumfries driver is "living the dream" this weekend as he races in front of an expected crowd of 200,000 in the US.

Andy Scott is taking part in the first round of the Global Rallycross Championship at the Charlotte Motor Speedway.

It is the biggest challenge yet for the Scott-Eklund team he formed with Per Eklund in January.

He told the BBC he believed a top five finish was not out of the question in his first race.

The rallycross event uses a custom-built course constructed along the front stretch and pit road of the motor speedway.

The Scots driver believes he will be able to compete with the best in his Saab 9-3.

"They are expecting 200,000 in the stands this Saturday and Sunday," he said.

"I think it will be amazing, impressive and very competitive.

"It is the biggest challenge I have taken on in my driving career.

"But it makes me feel good - I am not fazed by it."
