Galashiels man jailed over eye socket fracture attack

A Galashiels man who caused a double fracture to a stranger's eye socket has been jailed for a year.

Ryan Edmison, 20, of Balmoral Road, admitted to police he attacked "the wrong guy" in his home town in March.

Selkirk Sheriff Court heard the 54-year-old victim required specialist surgery to repair nerve damage.

Sheriff Kevin Drummond described Edmison, who admitted a charge of assault to severe injury, as a "danger to the public".

The sentence was backdated to 14 May when he was first taken into custody.
