Dalveen Pass pedestrian dies after van collision

A man has died as a result of his injuries after being hit by a van in south west Scotland on Monday night.

The pedestrian was on the A702 Dalveen Pass road, about a mile north of its junction with Carronbridge, when the collision occurred at about 22:00.

Dumfries and Galloway Constabulary said the man would not be identified until next of kin had been informed.

The force has asked anyone who saw a white Renault Traffic van, or the pedestrian, to contact them.

The driver of the van was uninjured in the collision.
