Diver with the bends airlifted from St Abb's Head coast

A diver has been airlifted to hospital in Aberdeen for specialist treatment after suffering a suspected case of the bends.

The 62-year-old man got into difficulties on a 40m leisure dive off the coast north of St Abb's Head, near Eyemouth on Saturday.

He managed to get back to the dive boat, where he was picked up by an RAF rescue helicopter.

He was taken to the National Hyperbaric Centre at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.

The man's condition is not yet known.
