Efforts to improve flood defences in Jedburgh are to be examined after major problems in the Scottish Borders town earlier this month.

About 25 homes and the same number of businesses were affected by waters overflowing from the Skiprunning Burn.

Council staff will attend a meeting of the town's community council to look at ways to tackle the issue.

Engineering consultants Halcrow are assessing what happened and studying methods to reduce the risk of a repeat.

An initial report on the incident is expected in about a fortnight.

However, community views will first be assessed at the meeting in the town.

Many properties were badly affected by the flooding on 5 August with the clean-up operation taking some time after that.
