Armed police seal off Dumfries street after attempted robbery

Armed police sealed off a street in Dumfries as they searched for three men who are wanted in connection with an attempted robbery.

The operation in Terregles Road came after an attempt was made to steal from the occupants of a flat in the town.

Three men forced their way into a property on Kirkpatrick Court on Monday and demanded cash from the residents.

Police said firearms officers were used as some witnesses said a weapon may have been involved in the robbery bid.

A spokesperson for Dumfries and Galloway Constabulary said: "At no time during this operation was there a danger to the wider public.

"Inquiries continue to establish the full circumstances into the incident and it would be inappropriate to comment further at this time."
