A date has been set for a by-election in Dumfries and Galloway after a councillor collapsed during a council meeting.

Labour's Ted Brown died earlier this month after taking ill during a planning, housing and environment services committee.

It means a by-election will be held to find a replacement in the Annandale North ward.

Voting will take place between 07:00 and 22:00 on 15 November.

Mr Brown died in hospital after collapsing at the meeting on 4 September.

Council meetings were cancelled for the week as a mark of respect.
