Dalbeattie man Stephen Maxwell faces crime proceeds action

A man jailed for five years for failing to pay more than £600,000 in tax and National Insurance is facing a Proceeds of Crime Act hearing.

Stephen Maxwell, 53, of Dalbeattie, was found guilty earlier this year after a six-week trial in Kirkcudbright.

HMRC described it at the time as a "case of deliberate and systematic fraud".

Maxwell could now face having assets confiscated. A hearing date has been set for 20 December.
