Dumfries woman Dawn Kirk identified as A701 crash victim

A 46-year-old Dumfries woman has been identified as the victim of a single-car crash on the A701 road near Beattock.

Dawn Kirk died as a result of the injuries she suffered in the accident on Thursday morning.

The 20-year-old man driving the white Vauxhall Corsa, thought to be her son, suffered minor injuries.

Police have appealed to anyone who was in the area at the time of the crash to contact them.

The driver has been named locally as Ryan Kirk, a serving police officer.

Mrs Kirk's husband Kevin is a senior officer in the Dumfries and Galloway Constabulary.
