Police have launched an investigation after computer equipment was stolen from a Borders church being converted into a crematorium.

The incident happened at the former church at Houndwood some time between Saturday and Sunday.

The building was forcibly entered and computer equipment taken.

Lothian and Borders Police have appealed for information and anybody who saw any suspicious activity in the area has been urged to contact them.

It was the second theft in the village over the weekend.

At some time between Thursday and Sunday a generator, copper piping, ladders and other tools were stolen from a cottage under renovation.
