Police have appealed for witnesses after two boats were broken into while docked in Eyemouth harbour.

On Sunday, the owner of a fishing vessel found it had been entered and a laptop - worth about £2,000 - stolen from within the wheelhouse.

A similar incident was reported on Monday following a break-in onboard another boat, which happened some time in the last fortnight.

Nothing was stolen but police are probing links between the incidents.

A police spokesman said: "As both of these incidents occurred in the same area over a short space of time, we are carrying out numerous lines of enquiry to determine if the same individuals are responsible.

"Anyone who remembers seeing anything suspicious around Eyemouth harbour in the past couple of weeks is asked to contact police immediately.

"Similarly, anyone with any further information that can assist with our inquiries is also asked to come forward."
