Electrical cable thieves strike again in Lockerbie area

Police have appealed for information after thieves targeting live electrical cable struck again.

There have now been five such incidents in rural areas around Lockerbie in the space of a few days.

The total value of the cable taken by the thieves runs into thousands of pounds.

Police said it appeared that those responsible must have used some sort of insulation material in order to carry out the thefts.

The first incidents happened on the Langholm road outside Lockerbie and at a house in Waterbeck overnight between Wednesday and Thursday last week.

The following night cable was taken in the nearby Boreland area.

Then, overnight between Friday and Saturday, further incidents were reported from the Hallburn and Smallholmburn areas - also near Lockerbie.
