Eyemouth publican fraud case not proven

A publican accused of an attempted £32,000 insurance fraud has walked free from Selkirk Sheriff Court after a jury found the allegation not proven.

Samuel McKeen, 57, was also found not guilty of falsely reporting a theft by housebreaking at the Dolphin Hotel in North Street, Eyemouth.

He had denied falsely telling police that money, alcohol and electrical items had been stolen from the hotel.

He had also denied attempting to obtain insurance payments by fraud.

The offences were alleged to have taken place between December 2010 and March 2011.
