Police probe £40,000 Dumfries jewellery theft

Police have launched an investigation after jewellery worth about £40,000, and more than £10,000 in cash, were stolen from a house in Dumfries.

The incident happened some time between Friday and Sunday at the property in the town's Janefield Avenue.

A Police Scotland spokesman said the jewellery consisted of diamonds, opals, gold and silver pieces.

Anybody who saw anything suspicious in the area over the weekend has been asked to come forward with information.
