Coastal Marine Boatbuilders job loss task force meets

A redundancy task force has visited Eyemouth to offer support to workers affected by job cuts at a boat building company in the town.

Sixteen workers at Coastal Marine Boatbuilders lost their jobs last week, after administrators were called in.

It is still hoped that the yard can be sold as a going concern.

In the meantime, a support session was held at Eyemouth Community Centre on the town's Albert Road on Tuesday.

The job losses provoked cross-party concern when they were announced and have been described as a "huge blow" to the town.

There was particular disappointment as the move comes shortly after the firm had secured a contract to build offshore wind farm support vessels.
