Man killed in A75 crash near Gatehouse of Fleet identified

Police have identified a man who died in an early morning three-vehicle crash on the A75 near Gatehouse of Fleet in south west Scotland.

William Lupton, 78, of Creetown, was killed in the accident at Skyreburn at about 06:40.

He was driving a Ford Fiesta which was in collision with a Vauxhall Vivaro van and a Citroen Berlingo.

Police said there were no significant injuries to the other two drivers or the single passenger in the Citroen.

The roadway was blocked for several hours to allow crash investigation work to take place but was reported to have reopened at about 16:30.
