Scottish Borders councillor bids to block payday loan websites
A Borders councillor is making a renewed bid to try to block payday loan websites from publicly-used computers in libraries and community centres.
In June, councillors rejected a similar call from Conservative member for Tweeddale Gavin Logan.
They had concerns about the practices of some payday loan firms but stopped short of a ban.
However, Mr Logan is making a fresh attempt to put a block on public computers and those of council staff.
He claimed that "nobody" was paying attention to new regulations for the industry.
"If the council blocked access from their computers to payday loan companies it is a very small step that sends out the right message," he said.
