Dumfries police appeal follows River Nith incident

Police in Dumfries have appealed for witnesses after an incident in which a man ended up in the River Nith.

Officers said the 61-year-old was spotted in the river at about 17:30 on Saturday, in the Whitesands area of the town.

Firefighters managed to recover the man from the water and he was taken to hospital for treatment.

Police have asked anyone who saw the man around the time of the incident to contact them.
