Annan police station custody death probed

Police station Police Scotland confirmed an investigation would be carried out into the death at Annan Police Station

The Police Investigations and Review Commissioner is to investigate the death of a Gretna man held in custody at Annan Police Station.

Kevin McGurty, 43, from Gretna, died on Wednesday after taking ill while being detained.

Police Scotland confirmed that the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service (COPFS) had ordered an independent investigation.

It added that it would "co-operate fully" with that process.
