Fire at Dumfries flats leads to evacuation

Flats fire Residents from nearby properties were evacuated after fire tore through the building

Residents have been evacuated and taken to temporary accommodation after fire broke out at flats in Dumfries.

Emergency services were called to the incident at Alloway Road in Lochside at about 08:40 on Friday.

Dalswinton Avenue and Alloway Road have been blocked off to allow the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service to deal with the blaze.

About 25 residents in surrounding flats have been evacuated. There are no reports of any injuries.

The public has been asked to keep clear of the area until the matter is dealt with and roads are reopened.
