Jed Forest rugby player Graham Slorance cleared of assault

A rugby player has been cleared of assaulting a Polish man to his severe injury following a three-day jury trial at Jedburgh Sheriff Court.

Graham Slorance, 22, who plays for Jed Forest, had been accused of causing his victim facial fractures with one punch.

The incident was alleged to have happened as they walked home from a pub in Dean's Close in Jedburgh last April.

However, Mr Slorance was found not guilty of that charge and of making racist comments to two Polish men.

During the trial he said he had only been defending himself when he punched the man in the face.
