Dumfries man jailed after stabbing partner

A Dumfries man has been jailed after stabbing a woman he had been in a relationship with for five years.

Peter Wilson, 37, admitted repeatedly striking Christine Watret with a knife in January.

The assault took place in her home on Balmoral Avenue and she required surgery after the attack.

Dumfries Sheriff Court heard that they had both been drinking when an argument broke out. Wilson was jailed for a total of one year and one month.
