Peebles crash cyclist still 'serious'

Police have issued a fresh appeal for witnesses to a crash in the Borders which left a 75-year-old cyclist with serious spinal injuries.

Carl Lane was involved in the collision with a Volvo XC90 car on 27 October on the A72 near Peebles.

He was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary before being transferred to the spinal unit at the Southern General Hospital in Glasgow.

He is described as being in a "serious but stable" condition.

Police believe several motorists may have witnessed the crash, but have not yet come forward to assist police.

Pc Rory Wilson said: "This is a serious incident and we are urging anyone who witnessed the initial collision to immediately come forward and help with police enquiries.

"Anyone with information should contact Police Scotland on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
