Would-be thief fled Dumfries filling station

Police are trying to trace a man who fled after attempting to steal the takings from a filling station in the southern Scotland.

The incident happened on Glasgow Road in Dumfries at about 21:55 on Saturday night.

The man approached a cashier at the Newton Gardens Filling Station and demanded she put all the money from the till into a bag.

However, when challenged he left the premises empty-handed.

The man has been described as being in his late 20s or early 30s and of slim to medium build.

He was wearing a royal blue zipped jacket which was covering his mouth, sunglasses and blue Goi Goi jeans.

He spoke with a deep voice and Scottish accent.
