Man critical after car and digger crash in Lockerbie

A man is in a critical condition in hospital after his car was involved in a crash with a digger in Dumfries and Galloway.

It happened on the B7076 road near to the Dinwoodie Lodge Hotel at Lockerbie at about 16:40 on Monday.

A yellow Audi driven by a 52-year-old man collided with a JCB digger.

The 52-year-old, who's from nearby Johnstonbridge, was airlifted from the scene to Glasgow's Southern General Hospital.

His injuries were described as life threatening.

Police have appealed for witnesses to come forward.

A third vehicle - a DAF articulated lorry - was also at the scene at the time but was not involved in the actual collision.
