Woman hit by lorry on the A7 in Selkirk

A woman has been airlifted to hospital after she was hit by a lorry in a town street.

The incident happened in Market Place, Selkirk, at about 15:15.

Police said the elderly pedestrian, who is being treated at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary, was seriously injured.

The A7 was closed for several hours while emergency services responded to the incident and police carried out investigations.

Police appealed for information from anyone who witnessed the collision.
