Man's body found on Glencaple beach

A man's body has been found on a beach in Dumfries and Galloway.

The discovery was made near Glencaple by a member of public at around 10:30 on Thursday.

Police said the body had not been identified, but the family of missing teenager Macauley McQueen has been informed of the discovery.

The 18-year-old has not been seen since he entered the River Nith in Dumfries in the early hours of 22 December.

Large-scale searches involving lifeboats, the coastguard, mountain rescue teams, the fire service and police were conducted following Mr McQueen's disappearance.

A police spokesman said: "Enquiries are ongoing at this stage."
