New Bishop of Galloway ordained in Kilmarnock

The ordination has taken place of the new Bishop of Galloway.

Fr William Nolan was appointed by Pope Francis in November 2014.

His Episcopal ordination ceremony was held at the Grand Hall in Kilmarnock, led by the Archbishop of St Andrews and Edinburgh, Leo Cushley.

Bishop-elect Nolan said: "I look forward to what for me are the new pastures of Galloway, and getting to know the flock, the people whom I will serve as bishop."

Archbishop Antonio Mennini was expected at the ordination as a representative of Pope Francis, as well as bishops from Scotland, England and Ireland.
