Man dies following Dumfries lorry crash

A 47-year-old man who died after his car was involved in a collision with a lorry in Dumfries has been named.

Police said William Hanlin, from Dalbeattie, died at the scene of the crash on the A75 bypass.

The lorry driver was taken to hospital for treatment following the incident but was later released.

Officers said Mr Hanlin's Vauxhall Astra was travelling eastbound when it collided with the HGV at Cuckoo Bridge at 19:45 on Thursday.

The articulated lorry was heading west.

Police have appealed for witnesses to contact them.
