Dumfries Infirmary ward shut due to norovirus outbreak

A ward has been closed at Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary following an outbreak of norovirus, the NHS has confirmed.

A total of 11 patients on ward nine have displayed symptoms consistent with the illness, a spokeswoman said.

The section of the Dumfries facility has been closed to admissions and transfers, and visiting has been suspended.

Ward nine is described as a general medical ward in the hospital.
